This surface lot at Main and Pecan Streets is now a big mountain of dirt with heavy equipment around and on top of it. Nice shot of the Rand Building in the background. The paint color is officially "Hot Pepper" but there was a contest before the library opened in 1995 to put a unique name on the color of the library. "Enchilada Red" won. What was second place, you ask?"Li-berry red."Mr.Cybrarianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16455559329334911642noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27119842.post-50508886784523381972018-10-20T16:55:00.001-05:002018-10-20T16:55:21.644-05:00Old and New

It snowed on December 7 - the earliest recorded snowfall for the Alamo City. I thought I would drive around downtown and watch it fall. It looks more like rain through my windshield.

This painted advertisement for Bell Furniture Company, featuring Quasar televisions, was painted on the north wall of the Wolfson Building. It's not there anymore. It burned in a fire in October 2011. It used to be across Main Avenue from the Bill Miller at the corner of Commerce Street.Mr.Cybrarianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16455559329334911642noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27119842.post-7795153002644015052015-08-06T18:12:00.000-05:002015-08-06T18:12:08.382-05:00Fawcett Furniture

This is a huge maguey, or agave, plant at the corner of Augusta and McCullough streets. It's hard to convey in a photograph but it's at least eight feet tall. Whenever I walk by, I fully expect it to say, "Feed me, Seymour!"

It always makes me laugh to see these signs because everyone I know says San Antonio drivers don't know how to yield. Even my sister who was born and raised here bitches about people that yield when they shouldn't and those that don't when they should. For those at Fort Hood:“That which causes us Shortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04130386671139893435noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27119842.post-36469495889423538862009-11-04T21:51:00.002-06:002009-11-06T00:39:36.028-06:00La LunaThe moon was incredible tonight. So big and orangy looking. This was an early shot, before the bigness and the orange stuff happened. I tried to take one later, but the movement of the car did not help me get anything but light streaks. My niece of course was enchanted by it, although she was convinced like most kids her age are that the moon was following us.Shortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04130386671139893435noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27119842.post-85120127576375002482009-11-03T21:50:00.002-06:002009-11-06T00:35:34.394-06:00Fall is HereWhen I saw this tree on the wall the first thought that went through my mind was cool. Previously it stopped on the right (Navarro). It doesn't much matter to me where it stops since I used to take it when it was on the right, but still this is nice. The theme for this month is door ways and today is also Dia de los Muertos. I thought this photo covered both of those nicely. It was a pretty good costume. In the background you can see Dexter, the serial killer that only kills bad guys.
