Book Bird Houses

Saw these little wonders when I was at the Southwest Craft Center perusing their gift shop. They also have such cute little things. These seemed to be themed bird houses made out of books and bits and pieces to fit the theme. This one's theme is golf or so it seems.

Pepsi Rims

I liked the juxtaposition of the stack o'rims next to the Peps machine. I don't think we've ever had to buy rims but we were looking for hub cabs a while ago. My little brother was the one who was into rims when he was younger. He had his truck all tricked out, which of course attracted those who wanted it for themselves.

The Dangerous Book for Boys

Saw this book on the shelf and loved the title. I have no idea what it's about but the cover would draw my attention enough to read the back cover at the very least.

Domino's Pasta Bowl

We order pizza every once in a while since the kids love it and will eat it everyday if we let them. I had seen a commercial about the new Pasta Bowls so I ordered one. The edge of the bread bowl was great, much like a pizza crust. We all took hunks out of that. The center of the bowl was a bit moist and mushy, as could be expected. The pasta, chicken and bacon were pretty good. Not sure if I would order the whole thing again, but the pasta I wouldn't mind eating again, and the edge of the bowls (pizza crust or bread sticks like) would be good too.

Stormy Gray Skies

Saw these gray skies as we were heading for a bit more shopping. We went to go look at some furniture at a thrift store but it was closed and we wer going to stop at another store before we headed home, but when we saw these clouds we decided to go straight home in hopes of missing the rain. When we got home the first few drops started to fall and then it rained for a good bit.

Before we got home though we had to dodge a couch that came flying off of some truck in front of us. Either it hadn't been tied down, or the wind was just too strong for it. As my sister and I were driving right behind it we saw it kind of flapping in the wind and right after we moved to the side line to avoid any mishaps it came off the truck. I don't think it hit anyone but it was a close call.

Not So Little Red Barn

On the way to have dinner with some friends I got to get a snap of this planes garage. I always think of it as a red barn. I always laugh when I see the little cut out towards the roof that allows for the tail of the plane. The ATC tower is almost center in the photo and everytime I see it, it reminds me of my little brother who does ATC for the Marines. I like to tell myself that maybe one day he will be back home perhaps in this very tower, or heck I don't care where he would be, having him home would be enough.

UTSA Speed Limit

Most schools have speed zones that people should follow. This one I'm sure is for the downtown lanes, but I liked the juxtaposition of the sign and the parking garage and the UTSA labeled building in the background.

151 Construction

Construction has been going on to the side of 151 for a while. At first they built two white water tower looking things, but then they got started on this red thing. Not sure what it is, but with those weird projections coming out of the side it reminds me of one of those man-made climbing rock things.

Up in the Wild Blue Yonder

Looked up into the sky when I saw this glint coming off of the wing of this plane. Not sure whether it was a light or a reflection or what but I took the shot. I liked the tricolor of this shot the gray tones, blue and white of the sky.

Home From School

Got this shot as I was getting home from work and she was getting home from school. She reminds me of a little businesswomen carrying around a briefcase, or perhaps a laptop, although no grown up products are ever as colorful as what she is carrying.

Van on a Stick 2

Not sure how long it took me to notice the make-over this van on a stick had done, but since I did notice I've been trying to get a shot of it. This was m first fairly clear shot of it. You can see the before shot here.

Mural

I see this mural on the way home most days. It's visible off the highway. I've tried to get a shot ot if many a time, but this is the first time I've gotten a halfway decent shot off before it moves out of my field of view. I like the vibrant colors of it. Not sure what building that is. One of these days I'll have to get a close up view of it.

SAPD @ SAPL

Some days are good and some days are bad. This day was one of the latter. The caution/do not cross tape was up all day I think. When I went to lunch these guys were still here, but on my way home they were gone.

I Was Here

Was at a presentation today and this was one of the slides the guy talked about. I really liked the look of it. It's kind of washed out here, but its suppposed to be some cave wall painting. The guy was talking about how many a thing is just a persons way of letting someone know that they were there.

Kate Ruckman Art

Stopped by the Java Nook for my fix of one of their frozen drinks and/or sweets. I always like to look at the art they have posted. I liked how the flower piece on the left matched the walls. Stop by for a sip or a bite of something and check out the art on the walls.

La Familia Portrait

Was over at the Southwest Craft Center for lunch and as always took a look around at the exhibits and the gift shop. I liked the look of these art pieces and the color of the quilt on the bed really drew my eye.

Bacon Chocolate Cupcakes

This is not the best of pictures, but how could I pass up taking the shot, posting it, blogging about it and of course getting a taste. One of the guys at work bought some of these in for us to try. Me and a coworker split them. They were better than you would ever think.

Arte por Vida

We were back in the old stomping grounds by Hildebrand and Blanco. We ate lunch at Chris Madrid's and passed this place on the way home. This was the place where I got my nephew his first tattoo for his birthday. The man was really nice and a stickler for the rules as I had my underage nephew with me at the time, and we had to get him picked up since he could not be in the shop. Nice to know it's still there--at least the storefront is. I wonder if it is still open.

Looking at You

We were at the Zoo and this was one of the last animals we saw. It was almost out of its little pen, checking everyone that walked by out. My niece wanted to touch it and I said go ahead, but I'm not sure if she did or not. They had just seen some goats at the Petting Zoo so she just might not have been up to it.

Theme Day: Shadow

The theme for today was shadows. Now I like shadow shots much myself but when I saw this shot I knew I had to use it. I chose this photo because of the little girl and what I am assuming is her dad. Children always seem to be their parents shadows at least for a while.

Also in this shot you can see the library's shadow and one of those cement pillars is in shadows so either way, it would have qualified.
