Orange Triangles

Saw these one night when we were out at Home Depot. I love how the triangles looked all orangey.

Some people stopping along a River Walk marker. Are they getting directions or just reading a bit about the River. I'll let you decide. The one on the right looks like a one of those people that you can ask for directions or just questions when you are out and about in downtown San Antonio.

Who Turned Off the Lights?

This is another dark shot and no it's not night. One stormy day the lights went out at Central. For the most part it was okay because we've got a lot of big windows, but some areas got a bit dark. It didn't take too long to get the lights back on.

Waiting in the Dark

The title sounds more dramatic than it is. One day it got dark while I waited for my ride. I liked the look of the night. This pic is a bit dark, but I like how the greens of the lawn and even a bit of the blue of the sky came out. Of course I had to persevere through some wolf whistles, but hey when there's a photo op, there's a photo op.

Patio

This is one of the Central Library's 3rd floor patios. The other one which is on the other side of the library but on the same floor was the shooting location for a scene from the movie Selena. If you've seen the movie, it's the backdrop for the press conference she has in Mexico. I've also heard that the basement was used for a hospital scene in the same movie, but I'm not sure about that.

Not Just for Bikes

I saw this chained to the public art bike stand. I thought it was funny because usually you see bikes. This was the firs time that I've seen a moped tied to it. It's pretty sweet. I know a couple of people who have thought about getting these things, especially since gas prices have continued to rise.

M and S Tower

This is the M&S Tower. I'm not sure how many stuff it hosts, but it does have a pharmacy and a little deli that has good tacos with good tortillas. It also has a beauty salon, hence the barber pole.

Hiltono Palacio del Rio

Downtown hotel. This place looks great at night with each of the individual block lit up. I like the geometrics of it all. *hehehe* I was going to say symmetrical but I wasn't too sure how to spell it. :D

Rainy Days in SA

Yesterday started out grey and just got greyer (Is that a word?) When we were driving into work it wasn't raining. When I went to grab breakfast a bit later it was raining and I got wet...had to dry off with a hand dryer, since I can't seem to keep an umbrella. When I went to lunch I got wet again. There was a few really loud thunder booms and at least one lightning strike that made us lose power—although we didn't realize until later.

You'll notice the palm on the lower left hand side of the picture. You'll see many of these around San Antonio, and I don't think they're native, but who knows maybe there are...are there any tree people out there that know the answer? If so pass it on, cause my enquiring mind wants to know.

Red Metal in Flight

I saw this thing on the way back from lunch. I have no idea what it is...maybe public art? It's in a little grotto by the RiverWalk on Augusta street, where that pretty little bridge is.

Santa Rosa Children's Hospital

This is the Santa Rosa's Children's Hospital in downtown San Antonio. I like the park they've built right in front of it, and of course the mosaic mural done by Jesse Trevino is excellent. I've got only nice things to say about these people because they were really good to one of my nephews when he had to stay for a week when he was just a baby.

Blue Skies are Gonna Clear Up

I couldn't believe it when I saw this sky. It was so blue and so crystal—the boundary between the white clouds and the blue sky was so sharp. It had been raining before this, but this was a beautiful day, if a bit hotter than I would like.

My Field of ... Flowers

I saw this field of flowers across the street. I wanted to get up close and personal, but I wasn't really watching where I was going. I went right into the flowers...hehehe, that's what I get for looking through my viewfinder, instead of actually looking at what was right in front of me. I also didn't notice til it was almost too late that there was piles of ants everywhere.

2007 NBA Champs

I was looking everywhere for something Spurs related that I could post. This was the first thing that I found. She stood in line to be one of the first to buy the shirt, then she had to be at work early in the morning. Thanks for posing Litle S.

Jack Frost Garden

I saw this on the way to lunch. I've gone over to the Southwest School of Art and Craft many a time, but I had never seen this. I liked the way it looked with the moss. I didn't get to see all that it said until I uploaded and noticed that the it was the Adele and Jack Frost Garden.

CityNAP

When this building first went up I had no idea what it was, so of course I had to look it up on the Internet--what else is there to do in this day and age. Well I found out what NAP stood for: Network Access Point. From their website: CityNAP streamlines communications business. We are an unaligned Network Access Point. That means that any company can colocate any computer equipment within our facility and connect to any carrier. For carriers we provide free access with dual fiber entries. CityNAP also includes a conference center, comfortable staging and work areas outside the main datacenter rooms and a full kitchen with all the soda you can drink.

This is the inside of Steve and Barry's on the southside of San Antonio. I didn't even know it was there. I was reading an article about this new clothing line and checked it out online. When I looked up store locations we saw there was one on the southside then my sister said someone had told her about it. From the outside I would have never suspected what it was.

Found Item

Saw this on a walk sign. I wasn't sure what it said until I got closer, then of course I had to take a pic of it. It says "Spurs Are Gonna Kill You".

Fat Cat (and Bird)

Here's a closeup of the Botero sculptures on display in the library. Kinda creepy from this angle. The cat has human eyes!

Wash, Rinse and Repeat

I decided it was time to cut my hair today. I've had it for about two to three years, it always seems longer than it actually is. I didn't know where to go so Hair Talk on the southside was recommended. I liked the service and staff and can safely say that I will be going back.

Radio Tower reflections

These buildings are right smack in the middle of downtow. What I noticed this day is that they hold a reflection of he radio tower that I see most days. I took my life in my hands this day, since it was lightning and it seems to seek me out where ever I be.

Clouds on Radio

I think I might have shown something similar to this before, but this day the clouds really struck me. I just like the way the whole image came together.

Miniature Golfing

I love the sign of this miniature golfing course. It's so retro. Can't remembe if I've been here, but I think other members of my family have. I always feel like such a giant when I'm minature golfing, of course it doesn't help that my swing is so wild that my golf balls end up outside of the course, way outside.

Pink on Clouds

I don't know what kind of plant/flower this is, but I liked it's color. We stopped by the Target on Goliad and it was getting ready to rain as you can see from the clouds in the background.

Good Eating

This isn't quite in San Antonio, but it's close enough to post. I love this place. It's one of those roadside restaurants that seem to pop up. We order from here quite frequently. I ate here for the first time today. Their service is excellent and their food is good too. I love their Chicken Fajita Nachos. If you're ever on 181 stop by and try them.

Class of 2007

Don't know about everyone else, but right now it's Graduation season in San Antonio. Although it was a bit ago, I can still remember my graduation.
