It feels like everything downtown is under construction. This surface lot at Main and Pecan Streets is now a big mountain of dirt with heavy equipment around and on top of it. Nice shot of the Rand Building in the background.

Lights Alive!
I went to the Lights Alive Christmas lights display off Culebra the other night. The lights were cool but the music was too modern. I would have preferred more traditional music instead of Christmas dubstep.

Repainting the Enchilada Red
Renovations to the Central Library have begun with repainting the iconic "Enchilada Red" exterior. The paint color is officially "Hot Pepper" but there was a contest before the library opened in 1995 to put a unique name on the color of the library. "Enchilada Red" won.
What was second place, you ask?
"Li-berry red."

Dancing With Myself
I saw this truck carrying electrical equipment and I was reminded of that Billy Idol video back in the 80's.

Schilo's Deli
The legendary Schilo's deli on Commerce Street. It's been around for over 100 years. If you stop by, have some pea soup and homemade root beer.

Continuing the theme...
This painted advertisement for Bell Furniture Company, featuring Quasar televisions, was painted on the north wall of the Wolfson Building. It's not there anymore. It burned in a fire in October 2011. It used to be across Main Avenue from the Bill Miller at the corner of Commerce Street.

Maguey gigante
This is a huge maguey, or agave, plant at the corner of Augusta and McCullough streets. It's hard to convey in a photograph but it's at least eight feet tall. Whenever I walk by, I fully expect it to say, "Feed me, Seymour!"

Pete on the street
I saw this little Pete the Cat sticker stuck to the ground in the San Antonio Public Library parking garage.

Yield!

I saw this sign being enveloped by this heart shaped green vegetation and I just had to grab a pic. It always makes me laugh to see these signs because everyone I know says San Antonio drivers don't know how to yield. Even my sister who was born and raised here bitches about people that yield when they shouldn't and those that don't when they should.
For those at Fort Hood:
“That which causes us trials shall yield us triumph: and that which make our hearts ache shall fill us with gladness. We must pass through the darkness, to reach the light.”-Albert Pike
