Its almost the season here for county fairs, state fairs and such. You can always find Funnel cakes (sweet fried dough covered in powered sugar) at such events, but I am wondering if they are strictly an American treat? Do you have Funnel Cakes where you live?
I am in India, and I have not seen exactly a funnel cake, at least not with the yummy powdered sugar and twisty turny shapes I would have in the US. there are some versions of fried dough
ReplyDeleteNo funnel cakes as far as I know in France. There are plenty of other treats of course.
ReplyDeleteNice to see images from SA. I have a friend who lives there, I 'll need to give him you url.
I haven't seen funnel cakes, but they sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love funnel cakes. We actually made them at home once. They tasted just as good, but didn't look as pretty. =)
ReplyDeleteFunnel cakes? That's a new one on me but I know I'm going to like them, could we have a pic pls.
ReplyDeleteNo funnel cakes here in the middle of the pacific but we have a big fair this and next week! =)
ReplyDeletePicture of a funnel cake off the web, since I don't have a photo of one after it was done.
ReplyDeleteIn some areas here, they also call them Elephant Ears.
So far, funnel cakes only seem to be found in the continental U.S. I wonder about Canada?
To me, funnel cakes are best when enjoyed as you stroll through a fair or carnival in the fall. When we have our next fair, I'll snap a shot and share. They are DELICIOUS and the aroma is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that kewl story about the bell and engagement - that is the best post response I've gotten thus far -
ReplyDeletesince you've been to the islands, you probably know what malasadas are - the funel cakes remind me of that =)
I LOVE funnel cake with lots and lots of sugar!
ReplyDeleteNever heard about funnel cakes before. I will take two!
ReplyDeleteI would be really impressed if anyone could eat two funnel cakes! They are huge and very sweet, it gives me a stomach ache just thinking about it. :)
ReplyDeleteFor the right price, I can probably eat two. And if I didn't eat anything else that day.
ReplyDeleteThien, we just might have a bet!
ReplyDeleteI want in on that bet too. If they have enough sugar on them, then I can eat two. I might pass out from the sugar rush, but it is so worth it.
ReplyDeleteAs Sonia would say: My tum tum hurts. But like I said about the price...
