Tufted Titmouse

Here's a Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) looking at me cautiously. See the crest on top of his head? That differentiates it from other chickadees. Oddly, they are only known as titmice in North America. The rest of the English-speaking world drops the "mouse" from the name.

  1. Excellent shot. we have lots of birds from the tit family, but this is anew one on me. Love the look he's giving you.

  2. I have a lot of them here all year long. I love to hear their calls and songs.
