Craft Center

Across the street from the library is the Southwest School of Art and Craft in an old Ursuline Academy building complex right on the river. We lovingly call it just The Craft Center, and it is often a nice escape just north of downtown. And behind the sign, the crape myrtles are blooming.

  1. A very cool arch. If I'd been given no information or location I would have maybe guessed a Quebecois site.

  2. This place is supposedly haunted. From the Copper Kitchen (their onsite cafe) I like to order the chicken salad sandwhich or the chef salad. The kitchen staff is really nice to regulars *like me* :D Also their Gallery shop has some nice one of a kind things, if you are willing to pay the price. I bought some nice handmade wrapping paper one year for Christmas.

  5. Well not every place, but the Library is, and Our Lady of the Lake was, and I did hear/read that the old Ursuline Academy which is now the Craft Center is too, not that I've personally heard/seen anything. I think it was in a book by Docia Williams a local author that writes about hauntings.

  6. I've been told by locals that it is haunted though I have never witnessed anything unusually or felt odd, thankfully!
